SafeJoint is a unique formula joint supplement which deliberately excludes the Glucosamine that can cause problems to insulin resistant and laminitic horses. It is completely safe for lamintics and horses suffering from Cushing’s disease. It nonetheless combines well-established chondroprotective and supportive nutrition with herbal alternatives to provide effective joint comfort:

Boswellia Serrata

Also known as Frankincense, resin from the boswellia plant is made into a powder containing boswellic acid. This has proven to be a favourite alternative to bute for joint comfort, and found in research to be chondro-protective as well. Boswellia however, unlike many even herbal anti-inflammatories, is very gentle on the stomach and safe for long term use

Circuma Longa (Turmeric)

Turmeric is a potent antioxidant and member of the ginger family that has been used for centuries for it's many benefits, and has recently been the subject of extensive research. It countains compounds called curcuminoids, most notably curcumin, and our own field trials have been so successful that we have decided to include it in our re-formulation of SafeJoint.

Chondroitin Sulphate

Our pure shark chondroitin is classified as a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG). Chondroitin sulphate is an important structural component of articular cartilage, and, bound to proteins in the form of proteoglycans, provides a large part of a joints' resilience to compressive forces.

Methyl-sulphonyl-methane (MSM)

MSM is one of the best bio-available sources of organic sulphur and is also useful for inflammation. Organic sulphur is important in the formation of connective tissues collagen and keratin, which are the bases for healthy bones and joints, and hooves, respectively..

Linseed

Our micronised linseed base provides an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids, very useful for maintaining supple joints. Omega 3 fatty acids are used in the body to make EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) which are proven to support joint function and comfort.

One pack lasts a 500kg horse 30 days at maintenance level.
